Gelli Printing

Today I did some focused Gelli prints using acrylic paint. I am not sure but I think that is the only thing you are suppose to use, but I am wondering if I can use alcohol inks. I will research it before I try it though. I am happy with the outcome of what I did today. I allowed time for the paint to dry between applications, which I think my previous failures were due to being too impatient with allowing time for the paint to dry between coats to get the impression of stencils. I mostly used all different colors but I did not use any reds. I tend to make a mess when implementing warmer colors; however, I plan to do some study on using warm colors together. I do like pinks, oranges, and a variety of reds.

These are my favorite picks from all the prints. I especially like the stencil with the petals because of how the blue stands out in the leaves. I have to remember to do this on purpose next time. All the color combinations in these three are something that makes me happy. I will use these colors often in my journals and printing.

I want to point out these two and how the stencil work shows up very well. The yellow one is where I just laid the stencil down over the colors of paint on the Gelli print and rubbed my hand over the paper laying over the stencil to make sure to get down in the crevices of the stencil with the paper. The brown and green one is where I put brown over the green after doing the stencil lift on the paper. Very cool.

Until next time!

Amy Yvonne
